What is A Yeast Infection?
What Is a Yeast Infection? A Yeast Infection occurs in warm, moist areas of the body when the common fungus of the genus Candida overgrows.
Most cases are caused by the species Candida albicans which causes thrush of the mouth, genital yeast infections and skin infections.
Candida thrives best in darkness when the temperatures are right and especially where there is a good supply of carbohydrate for its nutrition. Vaginal Yeast Infections are thus particularly common if there is diabetes, in which there is sugar in the urine.
So a urine test is mandatory in all such cases.Yeast Infections tend to be kept in check by the presence of normal body bacteria and if these are too energetically attacked by antibiotics, fungi may get the upper hand and start to spread.
